Additives are an important part of the formulation of many polymer products and can significantly improve the properties of the base material. Heat stabilizers, antioxidants, UV stabilizers, lubricants, plasticizers, flame retardants, and impact modifiers are among the common additives in the polymer industry. For example, the use of appropriate stabilizers can prevent polymer degradation from heat or sunlight and extend the life of the product. Some additives also improve the production process, reduce friction, increase flexibility, or improve mechanical strength. The amount and type of additive should be selected according to the polymer material, production method, and conditions of use of the product; because improper use can have a negative impact on the final performance. Today, manufacturers of polymer materials are looking for additives that, in addition to improving technical properties, also reduce energy consumption and environmental impacts of the production process.
